Nurturing Young writers, Inspiring Life Long Readers

Motherly Heart Organisation ( MHO) and Ntuha Children’s Writers and Illustration Association inspire children to discover the joy of reading, writing and creativity.
At MHO we believe that every child has a story to tell and the potential to become a confident reader, writer and creator. This belief came to life during a two-day children’s creative writing workshop held at the Motherly Heart premises in collaboration with the Ntuha Children’s Writers and Illustration Association (NCWIA).

Children from the community and schools, teachers from partner schools and MHO volunteers fully participated.

Creating a space where children could imagine

The workshop offered children an opportunity to learn beyond the traditional classroom environment. Through singing and dancing, drawing, storytelling, group reading, and read-aloud sessions. Children were encouraged to express themselves freely and explore their creativity.

Children discovered that their voices matter

During the reading and writing sessions, children worked in small groups with teachers, NCWIA facilitators and the MHO volunteer. They guided children to create their own stories that solve problems in the community, behaviour and family. The children later presented their original stories, reading skills and speeches to the community, facilitators and other participants.
