We are grateful to the Community Libraries Association of Uganda for celebrating our founder during this Women’s Month. Her journey from starting a small reading space under a tree to building a growing community children’s library continues to inspire our goals of promoting a long life of learning.

In 2023, Motherly Heart Organization began under a tree with a few reading books and a simple goal to support children in the community who were struggling with reading. It was a humble beginning, but behind it was a big dream to make books accessible to children from different walks of life and create opportunities for girls living in rural areas

Motherly Heart Organisation ( MHO) and Ntuha Children’s Writers and Illustration Association inspire children to discover the joy of reading, writing and creativity. At MHO we believe that every child has a story to tell and the potential to become a confident reader, writer and creator. This belief came to life during a two-day children’s creative writing workshop held at the Motherly Heart premises in collaboration with the Ntuha Children’s Writers and Illustration Association (NCWIA). Children from the community and schools, teachers from partner schools and MHO volunteers fully participated. Creating a space where children could imagine The workshop offered children an opportunity to learn beyond the traditional classroom environment. Through singing and dancing, drawing, storytelling, group reading, and read-aloud sessions. Children were encouraged to express themselves freely and explore their creativity.
